WASTE SIDE STORY: Transfer of second-hand equipment ...
... and first-class know-how in the area of waste management
from Austria to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Objective: Comprehensive rollout of a glass waste collection program for a community of 300,000 people
Timeframe: July 2019 - March 2024 (currently funded)
Three project partners: BASWA = national (BiH) member of ISWA International Solid Waste Association | TBU GmbH | Umwelt Verein Tirol, Association of Environmental Consultants Tyrol
Basic project rule: The funds (source: a private foundation) must benefit both entities of BiH (refer to map sketch) to the same extent.
Transferred to date (origin: MA 48, Vienna´s Waste Management Dept., the Solid Waste Board of Eastern Tyrol, and Rum, a city near Innsbruck):
57 containers for collecting glass packaging (sizes from 750 l to 3 000 l),
30 x 1.1 m³ containers (to be used in BiH as a substitute for non-existant
waste bins, previously used in Austria for collecting various packaging),
1 refuse collection vehicle suited for emptying 1.1 m³ containers.

The material for this film is largely "in the can", the film will be completed
independently of follow-up financing (thus the continuation of the project).
WASTE SIDE STORY is also reflected in training, at MCI Innsbruck (an Institute for Applied Sciences) students become familiar with practical aspects of up-to-date solid waste management. Some results of ´theory transferred to practice´ can be taken from below.
