Hannes has a degree in agricultural and environmental engineering and worked initially as a soil expert for various institutions.  He is a cofounder and associate of TBU.  In 1993, Hannes moved to Australia where he co-founded and is director of Nolan ITU Pty Ltd, the leading Australian consultancy in sustainable resource management.

Apart from environmental and waste management, his work focuses on the development of decision support systems considering economic, technical, environmental and social aspects.  Whenever he is in Austria, there is an emphasis on utilising synergies and co- operation between the two companies
